Press Release
Rochester, NY, September 19, 2024 – Eoptic, Inc., a pioneering leader in imaging and optics systems integration, has announced a strategic research collaboration with the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC), a renowned academic institution in New York State.
This agreement aims to expand the applications of Eoptic’s multispectral imaging technologies, with a focus on developing innovative methods for point-of-care patient imaging, minimizing the need for central imaging facilities and reducing patient exposure to radiation. The successful implementation of these advancements holds the potential to enhance healthcare delivery from clinics to operating rooms.
“Our research collaboration with Eoptic aims to advance medical imaging by giving surgeons improved visualization of the surgical field. We plan to explore new methodologies that could have a positive impact on how we diagnose and treat certain conditions. Our collaborative team also benefits from our ongoing partnership with the University’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics, an internationally recognized center of expertise in optical engineering,” said Paula Doyle, MD, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
URMC has a robust track record of developing and evaluating new technologies, with several patents related to medical applications of NIR fluorescence. New visualization technologies have also been brought to market based on University research and development, including EndoGlow’s GreenEggTM, which uses infrared illumination to help improve the surgeon’s view of human tissue during a procedure.
Eoptic specializes in rapidly translating complex engineering concepts from lab-based technologies to fully deployed products. Together with URMC, the company will explore the potential to develop innovative imaging devices using previously uncharted wavelengths in clinical settings and advancing patient imaging through state-of-the-art multispectral technology.
Other promising outcomes from this collaboration could include:
